Has anyone installed a air conditioning system, and what parts need to be acquired to do this?
Yes-
Your car should be like mine, pretty much pre-wired and the ECU automatically adjusts idle.
Check the classified's, lots of people remove them for racing, to reduce weight, or make room for FI.(that's where I found mine)
Very straight forward and took less then 4 hours to complete
You will need:
OEM Switch(just the button) (I had to trade mine with Dan-O)
Compressor
Condensor
Lines high and low, pressure
Mount for compressor
OEM Electrical two relays (should be connected)
You will need to buy new
New Dryer
New Belt
Get system evac'd @ midas or other free shop.
6oz of oil
R134a (I think I used 2 cans)
Also this may not sound right but it worked...I added oil first and the compressor wouldn't kick over with the system empty(the clutch/compressor senses freon and will not engage without it) so I ran a orange 50' extension cord from the positive on my battery to the positive on the compressor(there is only one wire). the compressor kicked on, started circulating, and all was fine after that. (it was cold and snowy the day I installed mine so I wasn't in the right state of mind)

Are the connections the same? The 90-93 AC were R12-based, and the 94+ systems are R134.
Stick with R134a and the 94+ systems. R12 is around $80.00 a pound.
